The Origin of the Levante
We’ve always heard the term “ The Maserati of… ” whenever we want to describe something really good, This time the phrase is owned by Maserati themselves building “ The Maserati of SUVs” by introducing a Mid-Size SUV named “Levante”.
Named after the wind in the Mediterranean, the Levante as we think of it and actually it is, a Half-SUV/Half-Sports car made for all type of roads with its power and height adjustment options which we will mention in our in-depth review.
The new Levante as expected brought the sedan style and the big front grill to its SUV model to make it look more aggressive yet stylish and luxurious, placing the big Maserati Logo on the front to make a bold statement as we always saw in Maserati vehicles.
The moment you see the Levante you will notice the fine edges and the aerodynamic shape that gives you a feeling that this car is so fast (and believe us, it is! ) and indeed a head-turner from what we have seen in the streets of Doha as everyone was admiring the looks of it!
Despite the Sporty look of the Maserati, which we love! The luxurious part inside is outstanding too, the options for you to customize the Maserati Levante is absolutely confusing that you might end up buying 2 of them, as you can choose between the Premium Red leather that is handcrafted and stitched along with option to have carbon fiber interior or go for full luxury with the leather dressed by Zegna and many more options.
“Ermenegildo Zegna” is one of the world’s leading designers as you can select this option to have the ultimate luxury from Maserati with naturally Zegna Mulberry Silk inserts in the interior. We are talking here about real top-class Luxury.
Advanced safety features include six dual-stage airbags, active headrests and a tyre pressure monitoring system, as well as ‘active’ safety technology designed to help prevent collisions, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Alert, Rear Cross Path detection, and Lane Departure and Forward Collision warning systems.
Maserati CEO Harald Wester said when the vehicle was first announced
“ It should be good, We’ve been working on it for the past 13 years “ in reference to the 2003 Maserati Kuban Concept displayed at Frankfurt auto show.
And yes the car is not only good, it is the best mid-sized SUV built so far.
The Levante comes with the same engine used in the Ghibili, a 3.0L Twin-Turbo V6 engine that comes with 350hp and another option in the Levante S with 430HP with noticeable difference as the Levante changed its intake system and exhaust system as well with proper tuning indeed.
The car goes from 0-100kmph in 5.8 seconds for the 350hp that we drove and 5.0 seconds for the 430hp. Talking more about the power the response for throttle and gear shifting in the Levante is interesting… After all, it is a Ferrari built engine.
The Sound and Suspension System
When putting the car in sport mode and sport+ mode you will feel the difference here, as the car has an adaptive suspension system that lowers the vehicle when speeding to ensure maximum aerodynamics and down force for more responsive cornering.
Note to mention also the fantastic sound coming from the quad exhaust system in the back feeling the car’s aggression while shifting up or downshift.
The Levante is not only about the daily drive or sport driving, you can take it for off-road and it can do amazing there too by lifting up the car to maximum height you can go even dune bashing in the desert and believe or not, it is hard to get stuck there ( unless you don’t know how to drive )
Will leave you with some photos of the Levante taken inside Doha:
